PumpPredictor is a messaging service that notifies you when the price of gasoline is about to rise or fall. PumpPredictor sends messages to any email address or SMS text messaging address.

When you sign up, you provide us with your zip code and an email or text messaging address. PumpPredictor will monitor the market in and around that zip code and send you alerts when the price is about to change. You do not need to use your mailing or billing zip code. If you commute and typically fill up on your way home from work, you may want to put in the zip code of your workplace.

If you know the price of gasoline is going to go higher in the next day or so you fill your tank and beat the price increase. If the price continues higher, you "keep your tank full” and fill every time you reach ¾ of a tank. If you know the price is going lower, you delay purchasing as long as possible to allow the price to fall. Then you "work off the bottom of the tank” by only filling to ¼ full. Once the price stabilizes or remains neutral, you fill at your convenience. These "inventory management” methods have been used by big fuel buyers for years. Imagine the savings generated by a railroad, big trucking company, or airline using these techniques.

Oil and gasoline markets are on the move around the clock. Most gasoline stations do not set their own price; the price is set for them by a pricing manager at a central office that could be hundreds of miles away. The pricing manager may be setting the price at hundreds of different stations. PumpPredictor relies on the same statistics, mathematical modeling, and market volatility and velocity variables used by that pricing manager at the oil company to calculate price changes. When the central office communicates a new price to a station or region it can take a day and sometimes longer for the stations to change the price on all of the dispensers and display signs. Can we guarantee the response or timing of your local stations? No. Can we guarantee that you will get to the station before the price changes? No. However, based on our experience and knowledge of the industry (see About Us) we know the average price paid by utilizing market timing and inventory management techniques will be lower than random, untimed purchases.

When you sign up for PumpPredictor, you establish an ID/address and password that you can use to manage your account through the website. Just go to PumpPredictor.com , click "Log-In” or "my account", enter your ID/address and password, and you will have access to your 5 addresses and zip codes. Make changes as often as you like. There are no "change fees."

In the unlikely event you are not saving money, go to PumpPredictor.com click "Log-In" or "my account", enter your ID/address and password, and you will have access to your account. Simply click on the "Billing Info" tab, and then click the "Cancel My Account” button. Accounts are billed automatically each month based on the date you originally subscribed. Once you pay for a month you are entitled to 30 days of service. Unless you cancel on the last day of your billing cycle, you will likely have service days remaining. The system will ask you if you would like to continue receiving alerts until the end of the billing cycle. If you click "yes” you will continue to receive alerts until the end of the billing cycle, and then your account will be canceled and your card will not be charged again. If you click "no” you will not continue receiving alerts and your card will not be charged again. Choose "no” if you no longer want the service and want to avoid further messaging fees from your wireless carrier.

Actually, no. Gasoline markets do not follow traditional logic. Gas stations make the most profit when prices are falling or are low and about to rise. Believe it or not, when PumpPredictor alerts you to fill up before the price jumps, the gas station makes more money than if you waited to fill!! Imagine that, you get a lower price and the gas station is happy as well.

The system evaluates the market every 3 hours from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. When you add text or email addresses to your account, you have the option of being notified when the market is going to move up, move down, or remain steady. If you have all three options checked, you will receive an alert every 3 hours. If you only have 1 or 2 of the options checked, you will only receive an alert when that condition is true. For example, if you only wish to be notified when prices are predicted to rise, you may not receive an alert from the system for several days during a falling market.
